The following is a conversation that took place regarding this video of Biden leaking out a wet fart during a virtual town hall:
yes, this is real and unedited
I sent the above to a friend who responded: “This whole campaign is elder abuse.”
My response:
Someone at the DNC saw them loading Hillary into the van on 9/11 and said “that, more of that”.
Which begged the question from my friend, an extremely valid one:
How DID this happen though? Why didn’t Warren/Beto or Harris/Castro or Sanders/Klobuchar get to this point? It’s none of the obvious reasons about them being communist douchey frauds cuz their base loves that. So how did THIS happen?
So how did this happen? How did we end up with an ailing former Senator and VP struggling through basic aspects of conversation and campaigning? Is the nostalgia for the 1920s when you could campaign from the back of a railcar that strong?
Once Hillary lost, all the usual suspects positioned themselves to run again. Now you’re thinking “oh well obviously – it should be Bernie, duh” given the fact that he practically won last time and has youth support and what have you, but the internal opposition to him became so strong it went from “let’s support Bernie” to “anyone except Bernie at all costs” and then the institutional and corporate dems tripped over themselves to replace him.
The Democrats (say it to the tune of “The Aristocrats!”) also pushed a bunch of unproven, untested candidates forward who it turned out were wholly unlikable in a broader sense but won locally because of their identifiers (Harris, Castro, Beto). Turns out it takes a lot more than being hyphenated to run for President.
Then there’s the “op-ed” candidates, who were pushed forward because Politico, et al decided they were a good idea – Klobuchar, Mayor Pete, Booker, Gillibrand. But they’re absolute goobers and nowhere outside of a think tank or panel discussion are they viable candidates. You can’t graft “likability”, “spontaneity”, or “fun!” onto fundamentally boring people, no matter how many shots in a rainbow shirt Gillibrand sips.
well, she tried to become a meme
Then you had three alt-candidates (Marianne, Yang, Tulsi) who theoretically could’ve garnered notable crossover support but the Dems never, ever take a chance even if their life depends on it – so they shot all three of them down.
So that leaves Warren (who Team Obama still despises for calling his bluff on financial reform) who is tough, well-spoken, can get a good chunk of support, but again, pissed off the wrong people too early.
Out of desperation the Money Dems thought they could throw a big CEO in there: Bob Iger (chose not to run), Howard Schultz (fake-ran for a couple weeks and realized it’s way harder than he thought) and Mike Bloomberg (embarrassed himself for the rest of his life).
one of his finest moments
So that leaves again – Bernie, and Biden.
And they will never, ever, ever let Bernie get the nomination.
And unfortunately, he’s mean – but not mean enough to call their bluff and stay in until the convention.
And that’s why you have a dementia patient who was a laughable stunt candidate 8 years ago running now. Because that’s the Democratic nominee every time – someone who even if they ran 8 years earlier it would’ve been kind of a joke and now it’s so far gone it becomes serious again.
Remember Hillary 2008?
John Kerry “reporting for duty”?
And now Joe Biden.
Biden 2008: his second run and second hairline!
Remember, the only one to switch the Democratic Party’s dial from “NOT WIN” to “WIN” hired all the above people as a consolation prize.
“Why can’t we sit in that chair?”
Obama didn’t choose Biden as his VP with the intent for him to succeed him much as Trump didn’t choose Pence with an “I Like Mike 2024” candidacy in mind. Both were chosen as the “calm, steady hand” to balance a President with little policy or governing experience.
It’s part of the reason why Obama waited to endorse Biden – after Bernie did even – and just about everyone (except Hillary of course, who waited a couple more weeks).
Hesitance doesn’t inspire confidence, and when you see the poor guy nearly shitt*ng his pants on a livestream a couple days after bleating “YOU AIN’T BLACK” during a Breakfast Club interview, you can see why they waited.
Before you think I’m being mean – and Trump could still lose – this isn’t just a Dem Party problem.
The RNC should be getting on their knees and thanking the big man upstairs daily that Trump ran and won in 2016. They haven’t won an election without a legacy candidate since Reagan, and he was an actor. Before that the last popular Republican president was Nixon, who, like Reagan, was Governor of California.
And before him? They had to run a general to win.
FDR’s impact was that huge, and he turned handicapped into handi-CAPABLE.
